The AMC theatre company and Sony Pictures are giving away NFTs as a gift to early ticket holders for the “Spider-Man: No Way Home” film premiere. These tickets (and the ability to retrieve the gift NFTs) will be available only to subscribers to AMC’s various subscriptions via its app (AMC Stubs A-List, Premiere, or Investor Connect). Only 86,000 NFTs will be accessible, and they will be issued on top of the Wax blockchain.
AMC has teamed up with Sony to offer NFTs to ticket buyers for the premiere of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” The announcement was made via AMC’s portal, which stated that ticket sales for the December 16 premiere began yesterday. The corporation will only provide 86,000 NFTs to AMC’s benefits programme subscribers (AMC Stubs A-List, Premiere, or Investor Connect), and app users will be able to get them after scanning a code when helping to the function.
This is the first time AMC has entered the NFT sphere, and they are doing it with a well-known franchise like Marvel’s Spider-Man. This might be AMC’s test pilot to attract moviegoers to return to theatres after a dry season because of the Covid-19 outbreak. Adam Aron, Chairman of the Board and CEO of AMC, commented on the promotion:
“AMC Theatres guests and our AMC Entertainment shareholders have been calling for AMC to get into the world of NFTs, and we couldn’t imagine a more perfect way to start doing so than with our good friends at Sony Pictures.”
AMC promotes these Spider-Man NFTs as “Eco Friendly,” which indicates that the chain via which they are distributed is energy efficient. The NFTs will be issued on the Wax blockchain, which is claimed to be carbon neutral. Wax is an NFT-specific blockchain that makes it easier for companies and platforms to launch their products on the Wax network.
The platform has already worked with a number of well-known businesses and claims to process over 15 million transactions per day at a fraction of the cost and energy consumption of competitors. Cub Firm, a seasoned animation studio that has received multiple honours for its work, created the artistic design for the NFT line. More than 100 models will be designed directly by the studio and displayed on the drop’s NFT artwork.
