Solana NFTs To Be Released In April, According To OpenSea

The NFT market OpenSea has stated that its Solana NFT support would be available in April. With such backing, OpenSea would be directly competing with Magic Eden, the current market leader in Solana NFT sales.

According to the official Twitter account of the NFT giant, Solana NFTs could be accessible on OpenSea within the next month.

OpenSea revealed forthcoming Solana NFT support in the form of a 16-second video teaser in a tweet. With a caption that reads, “The best kept secret in web3,” the teaser video displays the text, “wen solana?” among a collage of NFTs before stating, “April 2022.”

The exact date is uncertain, and while OpenSea’s statement is only slightly ambiguous, the revelation all but confirms predictions that the major NFT marketplace would soon add Solana capabilities.

Solana NFT compatibility has been rumoured since January when pictures of what appeared to be Phantom wallet functionality within OpenSea surfaced online. While reverse-engineering OpenSea’s website, tech blogger Jane Manchun Wong discovered references to Solana as a supported blockchain, which she then published online. OpenSea attempted to remove itself from the implication at the time.

According to Dune Analytics, OpenSea remains the world’s leading NFT marketplace, with over 1.6 million ETH in sales volume traded in March 2022.

At the time , Magic Eden was leading the way in Solana NFT sales by a significant margin, surpassing second-place Solanart by a sixteen-fold margin. A $27 million series increase gave Magic Eden a lift earlier this month. Paradigm is leading a raise. If OpenSea implements Solana NFT, it will very certainly reduce Magic Eden’s market share..

Solana would become the fourth blockchain supported by OpenSea, joining Ethereum, Polygon, and Klaytn.
