McDonald’s Has Begun Accepting Bitcoin In El Salvador

El Salvador became the first country in the world to accept Bitcoin, the world’s largest cryptocurrency, as legal cash just a few days ago, on September 7th, 2021. McDonald’s, the worldwide recognised fast-food company from the United States, began accepting cryptocurrencies as a form of payment in El Salvador shortly after this acceptance.

This development was confirmed by OpenNode, a California-based company that is one of the most prominent in the world when it comes to Bitcoin payment processing. The business revealed that Mcdonald’s in El Salvador is now accepting Bitcoins and that they are doing it over the Lightning Network, which is powered by OpenNode.

The company also mentioned that they have formed a partnership with McDonald’s in order for them to begin taking Bitcoin payments. The two companies are collaborating closely to ensure that all McDonald’s locations in El Salvador may begin taking Bitcoin payments using OpenNode’s Lightning Network.

Customers can now order their favourite Mcdonald’s items, such as the Big Mac and other items, and pay in Bitcoin at any of the country’s 19 Mcdonald’s locations. Customers may make essential payments in Bitcoin using OpenNode’s delivery app, according to the business.

Julie Landrum, the acting head of OpenNode’s Growth, spoke out about the situation in El Salvador. She expressed her delight and excitement at becoming a part of a movement that aims to make the implementation of Bitcoin law in El Salvador a simpler and more efficient process.

Furthermore, if someone is truly interested in cryptocurrencies and other digital assets such as NFTs and wants to create a project around them, they should look into the Blockchain Council’s Certified Courses and Training, which is the leading authority in imparting knowledge about Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others.

Despite the fact that McDonald’s appears to be the first major American corporation to comply with El Salvador’s cryptocurrency laws, an OpenNode spokesperson stated that the payment company processing Bitcoins is on the verge of onboarding multiple multibillion-dollar corporations to accept Bitcoin as a payment method.
