LeBron James, the NBA’s most valuable player, is partnering with Crypto.com to teach schools and families about blockchain technology.
According to CBS News, the alliance would focus on Web3, which refers to a group of online services and mobile apps created on the blockchain, such as cryptos and non-fungible tokens, or NFTs.
“Blockchain technology is revolutionizing our economy, sports and entertainment, the art world, and how we engage with one another,” James said in a statement. “I want to ensure that communities like the one I come from are not left behind. Crypto.com and I are aligned on the need to educate and support my community with the information and tools they need for inclusion. I’m looking forward to working with them to bring these opportunities to my community.”
Through the LeBron James Family Foundation, James and Crypto.com will provide educational and workforce development opportunities in the developing technology area to inner-city communities. According to the announcement, the cooperation would provide children and families connected to his I Promise initiative with the tools and educational resources needed to participate in and succeed in constructing Web3, the internet’s future.
Crypto.com, which was established in 2016, has a monopoly on the bitcoin and NFTs markets. NFTs are one-of-a-kind digital certificates that convey ownership of art, film, and other digital treasures. The business just spent $700 million to rename the Staples Center in Los Angeles, and James’ team, the Los Angeles Lakers, now play at the Crypto.com Arena.
According to a CBS News study, the NFT market is predicted to increase from $14 billion to more than $75 billion by 2025.
The blockchain business is growing, and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School now provides certification in blockchain and digital assets.
“LeBron James and his foundation have been pioneers in truly transforming the lives of those in his community through education and our partnership is based on a true alignment of values,” said Crypto.com CEO Kris Marszalek. “We couldn’t be more proud to join LJFF in providing opportunities to increase educational and workforce development while delivering the tools and access that will empower the next generation to build a better and more inclusive future.”
Crypto.com, one of the world’s fastest-growing cryptocurrency and financial services platforms, is reportedly partnering with like-minded businesses, nonprofit organizations, individuals, and institutions who are equally committed to assisting people in achieving financial independence and self-determination.
