Dogecoin And Shiba Inu Are Now Accepted At Gamestop

A GameStop retail store location in Vallejo, California. GameStop sells PC and console games, accessories, and merchandise. In 2021, GameStop's stock (GME on the New York Stock Exchange) was the subject of a massive "short squeeze", where retail investors from Reddit's "WallStreetBets" subreddit caused interest in the stock to surge, putting pressure on large Wall Street hedge funds who were betting on the stock to go down, and creating controversy around the Robinhood retail brokerage app.

GameStop, an American video game merchandise retailer, rose to prominence and popularity in investor circles after successfully pitting retail traders against Wall Street professionals in January 2021. Since then, the game retailer has expanded its list of supported payment methods to include several cryptocurrencies.

Shoppers can now pay for merchandise at GameStop using Dogecoin (DOGE), Shiba Inu (SHIB), Axie Infinity Shard (AXS), Smooth Love Potion (SLP), and Decentraland (MANA).

Dogecoin and Shiba Inu have been added to Gamestop as a result of the company’s integration of Flexa, a Gemini-backed digital payment platform.

Flexa, which partnered with Gemini, one of the leading US-based cryptocurrency exchanges, in 2019, recently announced the addition of Shiba Inu to its list of accepted cryptocurrencies, among others.

Flexa recently confirmed that GameStop’s status as a supported merchant has been renewed. This means that Flexa’s ‘SPEDN’ application now allows users to pay with SHIB and DOGE at all of its merchants, including GameStop.

Flexa announced on Thursday, December 16th, that it had added support for popular metaverse tokens such as Axie Infinity Shard (AXS), The Sandbox (SAND), Smooth Love Potion (SLP), and Decentraland (MANA), which can then be used to purchase games and gadgets at GameStop.
