Cardano Completes Final Node in Preparation for Vasil Mainnet Upgrade

The community has been informed by the Input Output Global (IOG) team that the Cardano node 1.35.0 has been successfully tagged and released. Before the Cardano mainnet Vasil update is live, this new node is referred to as the “final candidate.” The Vasil hard fork combinator event will no longer take place in June 2022 due to a few small problems, the IOG team previously announced.

After the launch of Cardano node 1.35.0 on June 25, 2022, the IOG core developers team and the Cardano community scored yet another significant victory. This new node’s introduction is considered a significant turning point toward the Vasil hard fork.

Per the announcement, the IOG team said, “we are code complete on all the core Cardano software. Testing on the new Plutus v2 code (including new CIPs which significantly improve smart contract performance) has been successful, and delivered very positive results in terms of performance and improved cost.”

This development has started the process of getting ready for the Cardano testnet release. The new node is reportedly ready to be deployed onto the Vasil testnet, and the Stake Pool Operation (SPO) communities sponsoring it have reportedly been informed.

Furthermore, the IOG team said, “We’ll give testnet SPOs the time they need and as soon as more than 75% of block-producing SPOs on the testnet have upgraded – needed for satisfactory chain density for the hard fork – we’ll submit the testnet update proposal, which will take one complete epoch to take effect.”

Given the complexity of the Vasil update, the IOG team reiterates that the main priority is to implement the hard fork in a way that protects the safety and security of its ecosystem partners. As a result, the mainnet Vasil upgrade will be implemented using the strictest procedure.

Cardano is the first proof-of-stake blockchain platform built on the peer-reviewed, verifiably secure blockchain system. Ouroboros is what allows the Cardano network to be decentralized. It also enables the blockchain to scale without jeopardising security.

The Cardano network’s next Vasil upgrade aims to increase the performance and functionality of the Ouroboros-based proof-of-stake (PoS) blockchain platform. This next upgrade is named after Cardano’s long-time community member, Vasil St Dabov.
