Airbnb Could Soon Accept Cryptocurrency Payments

Airbnb the vacation rental company appears to be on schedule to accept cryptocurrency payments in 2022.

The Airbnb internet hospitality business could be on the right road when it comes to accepting cryptocurrency payments. CEO Brian Chesky recently said on Twitter that reserving accommodations with cryptocurrency is the most popular request for this year.

On January 3, Chesky requested his Twitter followers for Airbnb-related suggestions. After sifting through thousands of tweets, he came to the conclusion that cryptocurrency was obviously in the lead. Following this, there will be clear price displays, a customer loyalty programme, updated cleaning fees, and improved customer service.

Chesky claims to have seen a variety of token proposals, implying that Airbnb’s future cryptocurrency payment options will not be restricted to just one or two tokens. He also stated that since 2013, Airbnb has processed $ 336 billion in payments.

Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal are presently accepted by Airbnb.
In September, Chesky told Fox Business that Airbnb had received numerous inquiries related to cryptocurrency payments:

“We get a lot of requests, I have been receiving it for years, I have nothing to say about it today.”

In its initial public offering (IPO), the company stated that in order to stay successful in the future, it must adapt to cutting-edge technology such as cryptocurrencies and blockchain. In 2016, the world’s largest rental marketplace purchased the Bitcoin ChangeTip tip service.

It’s worth noting that Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, one of the world’s wealthiest people, used to work for Airbnb. Airbnb’s new crypto move comes as decentralised blockchain-based rivals such as Dtravel, a vacation rental business founded by, compete.
